The Stelvio National Park is one of the largest protected areas in Europe and Bormio is almost all within the borders of the Stelvio National Park.
An uncontaminated area, where the main vegetation feature is the woodland area home to species of great value to nature.
This area also offers an undergrowth of rare value, among which the growth of ceps (wild mushrooms) is an important feature.
The Stelvio Parkland offers an ideal habitat for typical alpine fauna, with numerous roe deer, buck deer, chamois and steinbock to be found above all in Val Zebrù. The smaller fauna is found with the presence of marmots, squirrels, badgers, stoats, hares and foxes. The black grouse and the rock ptarmigan can often be found. In Val Zebrù and in Val dei Forni examples of the Golden Eagle and the Bearded Vulture, the largest bird to be found in the Alps, can be seen. These are also to be found in Val del Braulio.
In these areas and above all in Val Zebrù we can still see the typical wooden mountain houses, the so-called “baite”, the last remaining examples of an architectural style expressing a true cultural form.
A unique and unforgettable experience for excursions and walks along the tracks, on foot or mountain bike, offering breathtaking views in natural surroundings and in close contact with the animals.
The departure points for the main excursions can be easily reached in a few minutes by car from the hotel, or as an alternative it is possible to visit the Park in authorized jeeps which organize trips to the most important valleys surrounding Bormio.
It is also possible to contact the Alpine Guides, to organize alpine trekking, ascents and excursions within the Stelvio National Park.
Super cozy hotel! I went with my boyfriend, while cruising Italy by motorcycle. The staff is very friendly. Perfect location near restaurants and stores. Spacious rooms. Confortable beds. Our room had a small balcony with a stunning view of the mountains. Bormio is beautiful and this hotel is a gem!
